Happy BC day Parents!!
We spent a rewarding morning at the beach last Friday. The children did an amazing job in cleaning up the shoreline by finding unwanted garbage such as bottle caps and Popsicle sticks which pose a danger to marine life. Thank you children and parents for making this event possible through your enthusiastic participation and attendance. Each child also “tickled the ivories” by engaging with the painted public piano on the beach. Gavin’s sister, Alyssa, recently started piano lessons and was quite excited to display her newly acquired skills. Through this unexpected interaction it is our hope that the children will be inspired to take music lessons in the near future.
Ornithology kept us engaged. Last week we focused on the anatomy of birds, their habitat, bird identification such as the woodpecker, the seagull ( which is featured on our logo), the iconic and protected Canada Goose, as well as the Steller’s Jay, our provincial bird. Some activities included, bird watching with binoculars, colouring bird pages, creating a bird montage, matching birds and listening to bird sounds.
Angela, Martina and Coco built a simple bird house with wood and glue, whilst Aanya, Matheson, Zisel and Wyatt decorated and painted a pre assembled version. Gavin decided to work on his at home. Of course Mr. Stan, ( our handy builder) hosted a short presentation about woodworking. Thank you Sir!
We were happy to have Farzana share highlights of her recent trip to London with the children. Thank you Farzana for the gifts of these amazing souvenir books which took us on a virtual tour of London.
