Individual Attention For Every Student

Personalized Learning

At Granville House Montessori, each child is seen, known, and supported as an individual. Our classrooms are thoughtfully designed to allow children to work at their own pace, revisit materials for mastery, and receive guidance tailored to their developmental stage. Teachers observe closely and provide intentional lessons that meet each child where they are — nurturing confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning.

Early Literacy & Numeracy Foundations

We provide a strong foundation in early literacy and numeracy through hands-on materials and individualized instruction. Children develop phonemic awareness, number sense, problem-solving skills, and concentration in a calm and purposeful environment. Our approach ensures children build understanding through exploration rather than memorization.

Social-Emotional Development

At St. Ignatius College School, students who need additional academic support can access the services of the Resource Department, which assists students in variety of ways:  working with students within a classroom, providing a place to write tests and exams in a smaller setting, offering the Learning Strategies course, and developing students’ reading levels.

Enrichment & Exploration

Our program encourages creativity, curiosity, and hands-on discovery. Children engage in art, practical life activities, movement, and cultural exploration, allowing them to express themselves and deepen their understanding of the world around them. We believe meaningful exploration builds not only academic readiness but also joy in learning.

Frequently Asked Admissions Questions

What ages do you accept, and what is the admissions process?

Granville House Montessori welcomes children during the preschool years (ages 3-5). Families begin by submitting a pre-registration form, after which we schedule a conversation and, when appropriate, a classroom visit. As spaces are limited, we encourage families to inquire early. Placement is offered based on program fit, availability, and readiness.

What are your hours, ratios, and licensing standards?

Granville House Montessori is a fully licensed early learning centre operating in accordance with provincial childcare regulations. We maintain appropriate teacher-to-child ratios to ensure close supervision, individualized attention, and a calm, well-supported classroom environment. Our hours and program structure are designed to provide consistency while supporting the needs of our families.

Is your program academically rigorous?

Our program provides a strong academic foundation through purposeful, hands-on learning. Children develop early literacy, numeracy, concentration, and executive functioning skills within a carefully prepared environment. Rather than accelerating children beyond their developmental readiness, we focus on depth, mastery, and cultivating a genuine love of learning.

Does my child need to be potty trained?

Yes. Children enrolled at Granville House Montessori are expected to be independently potty trained prior to starting the program. Independence in toileting is an important developmental milestone and supports a child’s confidence, self-regulation, and participation in the classroom routine. We encourage families to ensure consistency between home and school to support a smooth and successful transition.

How do you support transitions and separation?

Transitions are approached with care and intention. We recognize that starting school is a significant milestone for both children and parents. Gradual entry, clear routines, and strong teacher-child relationships help build security and trust. Our goal is for each child to feel safe, confident, and excited to engage in their new environment.

What are tuition fees and how does the waitlist work?

Tuition reflects the quality of our program, including experienced educators, a thoughtfully prepared learning environment, and small group ratios. Detailed tuition information is shared with families once the application process has been initiated. Enrollment is offered based on availability and program fit at the time of application.
